چکیده

This paper presents the extension of vector precoding, a generalization of the nonlinear TomlinsonHarashima precoding, with a PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio) reduction technique for the downlink of OFDM systems. The proposed algorithm exploits alternative transmit sequences arising from vector precoding to reduce the peak power in the time-domain baseband transmit signal. The operation is completely transparent to the receivers and therefore requires neither transmission of side information nor additional processing at the receiver side.

Power Efficiency Improvements through Peak-to-Average Power Ratio Reduction and Power Amplifier Linearization

Many modern communication signal formats, such as orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and code-division multiple access (CDMA), have high peak-to-average power ratios (PARs). A signal with a high PAR not only is vulnerable in the presence of nonlinear components such as power amplifiers (PAs), but also leads to low transmission power efficiency. Selected mapping (SLM) and clipping...

Improved Technique of PAPR Reduction Combined Pre-distortion in OFDM Systems

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is an effective parallel multi-carrier transmission scheme. However, this technique has one weakness of a higher transmission signal Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) when the signal is transmitted. To reduce the impact of High Power Amplifier (HPA) nonlinearity on OFDM system, this paper proposes the combination of improved clipping and filter...

Low Complexity Partial Transmit Sequence with Complex Gain Memory Predistortion in OFDM Systems

In this paper the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction and digital predistortion effects in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems are investigated. By applying a predistortion technique called complex gain memory predistortion (CGMP), power amplifier works at higher power efficiency. The proposed enhanced partial transmit sequence scheme is applied for PAPR reduction...

Enhancement of Power Efficiency in OFDM System by SLM with Predistortion Technique

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is considered as a strong candidate for future wireless communication because it is marked by its higher frequency multiplicity and greater immunity to multipath fading. However, the main drawback of OFDM is its high amplitude fluctuations measured by peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), which leads to power inefficiency and requires expensive hi...

Doctoral Thesis Complex Baseband Modeling and Digital Predistortion for Wideband RF Power Amplifiers

Modern modulation methods as used in 3rd generation mobile communications (UMTS) generate strongly fluctuating transmission signal envelopes with high peak-to-average power ratios. These properties result in significant distortion due to the nonlinear behavior of the radio-frequency power amplifier (RF PA). We propose different nonlinear model structures for such amplifiers, based on memory pol...
